Join the DCSA Cohort
The DCSA is one of the most prestigious awards in the BSA. It can be earned by youth in the ScoutsBSA, SeaScouting, or the Venturing Program. It includes significant skills development, demonstration, and two large projects.
One way the Green Crew can support you earn your Distinguished Conservation Service Award is with our Cohort! A peer support group for qualified Scouts meets twice a month, facilitated by Dilshan, an Eagle Scout, DCSA winner and Green Crew leadership team member.
DCSA Cohort #1 is the Green Crew’s first peer support group for Scouts working on their DCSA. It is an opportunity to receive peer encouragement, feedback, and support.
DCSA Cohort #1 will be facilitated by Dilshan. Dilshan is an Eagle Scout and recipient of the Distinguished Conservation Service Award, and Supernova Award. He is a VC3111 “Green Crew” Leadership Team member. He is a freshman at the University of Minnesota studying Neuroscience on a Pre-med track.
Dilshan joined scouting as a Cub Scout in 2nd Grade and achieved his Eagle Scout rank in 2021 at age 17.
He is passionate about helping people and his Eagle project idea came to him when COVID hit, and schools switched to online learning, many kids could not participate in the learning process due to lack of electronic equipment. Dilshan partnered with “PCs for people” to collect, refurbish and distribute electronic devices (laptops, desktops, Ipad’s) to underprivileged kids so they could continue learning online.
He believes that learning should not be impacted by someone’s socio-economic situation. Schooling and learning should be available to everyone.
Dilshan is a good mentor and wants all children and scouts to do well in life. He is always ready to help anyone with their Eagle project or DCSA, and he was his Troop instructor for many years teaching younger scouts to achieve their ranks.
If you are a Scout in the process of earning the Distinguished Conservation Service Award (Or ready to start). Scouts actively registered in a ScoutsBSA unit, SeaScout or Venture Crew committed to earning a DCSA award.
