Soil and light conditions directly affect plant growth. Like most soil organisms, fungi function best in an optimum micro-environment.
Research has shown that “Fungal and bacterial growth rates had optimum temperatures around 25-30 degrees C, while at higher temperatures lower values were found. This decrease was more drastic for fungi than for bacteria, resulting in an increase in the ratio of bacterial to fungal growth rate at higher temperatures”.
This “4 in 1 Soil Moisture Meter” will support the Green Crew citizen scientist to create logs of the temperature, moisture, ph, and light at locations they identify the fungus. Readings from this meter will be entered.
