Green Crew Featured in the MN State Fair’s  EcoExperience

Green Crew Connected with youth from across the state at the MN State Fair

On Saturday, September 3rd, 2022, under the banner of “Youth-led Conservation Action” the Green Crew, the Green Crew talked about environmental service projects addressing climate change with visitors to the Minnesota State Fair.

Youth and Adult volunteers from the Green Crew shared the stories of our science-based conservation and ecology projects.

We talked about Leave No Trace as an outdoor ethic for camping and living every day. We discussed opportunities to scale our river water testing program. We shared our vision of planting trees in traditionally marginalized communities. We even discussed our sponsorship of the GSUSA Gold Award and ScoutsBSA Eagle Award projects.

The Green Crew was joined by our sister project, “River Watch,” from the Izaak Walton League of America – MN Valley Chapter and Friends of the Minnesota River.

Many of our volunteers hopped back and forth between the two booths.

This was the Green Crew’s first State Fair, and we learned a lot from experience. (Next time, there will be a spinning prize wheel.) We hope we will have the opportunity again and engage more young people in our exciting adventure!
